Review:Protector for Hire by Tawna Fenske

Protector for Hire (Front and Center, #4)

Synopsis

Keeping her safe is crucial. Guarding his heart is impossible.

Haunted by his time in Iraq, former soldier Schwartz Patton goes off the grid, retreating deep into Montana’s untamed wilderness. Now, ten years into his self-imposed solitude, his brother tracks him down and asks for a favor. A woman is in danger, and she needs help...and Schwartz is the only one who can protect her.

Designer-loving city girls like Janelle Keebler don't belong in the wilderness. Unless, of course, they're witnesses to a murder by their psycho drug-trafficking ex-husbands. Still, Janelle can't help the immediate physical response she has to her sexy-as-sin protector that leaves her wanting more than she could have ever imagined. Even if he does make terrible coffee...

Every word, every touch, every kiss ignites a need Schwartz thought he’d lost forever. He can't stop the desperate attraction simmering between him and Janelle, even if he wanted to. Even if it means it could get them both killed.

5-Stars Review

Another amazing read! I loved it. Its a light-hearted romantic story, also full of humour and intrigue. Schwartz and Janelle are a perfect couple. Both are opposite of each other. While Schwartz has been living alone for past ten years, away from civilisation, Janelle is kind of a person who needs human interaction. She cannot stay quite for long. She has a sunny personality which makes people comfortable around her. They both compliment each other in a perfect way.

Janelle needs protection, she witnessed a murder and now her ex-husband is after her. Schwartz brother requests that he keeps Janelle safe. There was no one else who could be trusted with the task. When she came to live with him, she was not expecting a cottage in wilderness. But she trusted him. He was kind of a man who knew what he was doing when it came to disappearing and staying safe. He was a competent protector, as far as she was concerned.

What they did not anticipated was falling in love. It was difficult to share a cottage and not feel attracted to each other, at first they try to ignore their attraction but not for long, the only trouble is the danger which surrounds them and past ghosts that might come to haunt....

“We’re fucking wasted on destruction,” I say.
“That we are …” He muffles a laugh.
“This isn’t funny, you know.”
“Oh, I know.”
“You just tried to kill me,” I say.
He tilts his head. “And you just tried to kill me.”
When I try to push him off me, he grabs my wrists again and slams them above my head. “We’re both dirty fucking killers, Vanessa,” he says.
“Let me go,” I say.
“Or what? You’re going to run? You’re going to kill me? I doubt it.”
“You don’t know that,” I say, biting my lip.
“I do because you’re still not telling the truth. At least, not to yourself.”
“What are you talking about?” I say as he crawls on top of me again.
“I’m talking about the fact that you, after everything I’ve done to you, still think of me as someone you could be with.”
I swallow away the lump in my throat. “No.” I shake my head. “Impossible. We’re two different people.”
“Two different people united by the same lust for vengeance. Hate. Murderous tendencies.” He leans in closer. “I know you’re lying, Princess. I can smell it.” He sucks in a breath with his nose.
I shiver underneath him, feeling the sparks alight. “I’m not … I can’t. This just can’t.”
“It can because you want it to. Because I want it to. Stop saying and thinking things that aren’t true. You know as well as I do that it’s unavoidable.”
His eyes are half-mast, sultry, almost seductive, and I can’t help but want to lean in for a kiss.
It’s disturbing, I know. After just wanting to kill him, and him wanting to choke me, I still desire him. Our connection feels stronger than ever now that I’ve spoken the truth, and it’s hard to ignore the growing tension between us. It’s the flipside of deep-seated hatred … love bursting underneath the surface, ready to pop out and grow.
But is it really the right thing?
I press my lips together, and he brings his hand to my face. I expect another slap, and close my eyes, but instead, he surprises me by caressing my cheek. When I open my eyes, he’s smiling.
“I’ll forgive you, if you’ll forgive me,” he whispers.
I blink a couple of times. “How? After all of this?”
“Just say the words,” he muses. “Forgive and forget.”
“I …” I take a deep breath as a single tear runs down my cheek. He catches it with his finger and puts it in his mouth, sucking hard.
“Hmm … Nothing like some tears in the morning.”
I shake my head, chuckling to myself. “You’re one sick bastard.”
“One sick bastard you’re in love with.”

Emily (Skipping Stones: Book 1)
Unedited

“Please tell me you’re not seeing each other.” He says
as he locks eyes with me.
I swallow wrapping my arms around myself not
understanding his reaction. “No we’re just hanging out, that’s all.”
I watch as his shoulders fall and then he surprises me
by quickly closing the distance between us, grabbing my waist and the back of
my neck. Before I can even begin to understand what’s happening his mouth is on
mine and his tongue is pushing between my lips seeking my own. And for just a
moment I let myself fall into the familiar warmth and comfort I’ve always found
in his embrace. I surrender to his will kissing him back, his familiar taste
invading my mouth and overtaking my senses. But the noise of a child hollering
brings reality crashing back on me, and I push my way out of his embrace
breaking the kiss.
I stand there and stare him in the eyes as so many
emotions threaten to break the surface, with a trembling hand I cover my mouth
as I shake my head back and forth.
“That shouldn’t have happened,” I whisper. Remembering
how easy it was too lose myself in his arms.
He frowns and I can tell he’s frustrated with the
whole situation as he runs his hands through his hair covering his face as he
lets out a muffled scream.
“Emily…please I think…no, I mean I know I screwed up.
I should have never let you go and I’m sorry.”

Review: A Friendly Engagement by Christine Warner

A Friendly Engagement

Synopsis

Omar Esterly is married to his job. But when Omar sets his sights on a potential, family-oriented client, his confirmed bachelorhood becomes a problem. Fortunately, his friend and employee, Devi Boss, has the perfect plan…

Okay, so it wasn't exactly Devi's plan to become her friend's fake fiancĂ©e. Lies aren't her style. However, Omar offers her a big, beautiful raise—enough to track down the missing father she's never known—and Devi reluctantly agrees to the whole engagement hoax…

This was supposed to be a no-strings-attached win-win for both Devi and Omar, but when they cross the line between friendship and…well, something more, Devi realizes she’s made a huge mistake that just might cost her both job and friend—falling for her fiancĂ©.

Review

This is a light-hearted romance novel. A good for those who like humorous and funny stories and unique characters. Because that is how I will describe Devi, she lives in the moment, taking life one step at a time and not caring about what other people might say about her. She is kind, caring and fun to be around. Her boss and friend, Omar, is her exact opposite. He is always buried in work and doesn't take time for himself. She wants him to enjoy life before its over. But he is always worried about his next business deal, especially the one offered by a wealthy businessman. He has been trying to get a meeting with him but apparently he only wants to do business with someone who has a family. Omar is not that person, he never wants to get married or commit to a long-term relationship. For this deal though, he is willing to do anything, even pretend to be engaged. Devi is his best bet. She knows him well enough, they get along and enjoy talking to each other, they can easily pull off a fake engagement. What they didn't count on was falling in love...
A cute story for all book lovers, I very much enjoyed reading this novel and I hope that you'd too.

Tour Stop + Review + Giveaway: Uncovered by Truth by Rachael Duncan

Title: Uncovered by Truth
Series: Lies and Truth Duet #2
Author: Rachael Duncan
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: June 17, 2015

My life has been full of uncertainties. Little did I know the biggest one would come in the form of a green-eyed beauty. She came into my life and flipped everything on its end and now things are more messed up than ever before.

Being former Special Forces, I’m no stranger to fighting, but this is different. This is personal. The stakes feel much higher and the struggle to save her will be my most challenging mission yet.

But I have a secret. A secret that threatens to tear apart everything we’ve built. I just hope she can overlook them when all is revealed.

You know me as Alex Matthews.

My mistake was getting involved with her, knowing what was on the line.

Their mistake was taking me away from her.

Review

Elizabeth and Alex's story continues in this second instalment of lies and truth duet. Story starts from where it ended in Book 1. Elizabeth and Alex are on the run. Hiding from her husband and struggling to stay alive. They are in love and willing to take any chance they must. Soon Cal's people find them and survival seems impossible but somehow they make it through all the difficulties...

But the biggest one they will face will be one when Elizabeth finds out the truth about Alex. He is scared to think that she will reject him after she discovers his secret. She has been lied to a lot in the past and truth is very important to her. What will happen when she finds out that Alex has been lying to her too?

This book is even better than the first one. Story progress smoothly and characters become more likable. This is a good book, which all readers can enjoy.

“Oh my God, Alex. They’re going to kill us, aren’t they?” Her lip quivers as she grabs onto my arm.

I grab both of her shoulders and stare into her eyes. “No, they’re not. We’re going to stay right here and we’ll be fine, okay?”

“But they’re going to come in after us. We need to leave.” Her voice rises with urgency and I know I need to calm her down before she does something stupid out of fear.

“Good. Let them come in after us. We know they’re out there. They’re not expecting us to be ready for them. We know the layout of this cabin. They don’t. We’re going to position ourselves in a way that makes it impossible for them to surprise us. In here, we have the advantage.”

Rachael Duncan is an Army wife to her amazing husband, Steven, and mother to their beautiful daughters, Natalie and Zoe. She grew up in Nashville, Tennessee and went off to graduate from the University of Tennessee with a bachelor's degree in political science. With initial plans to work in politics, she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked on Capitol Hill for a House Representative. She's currently a stay-at-home mom to her two kids and writes whenever she has some quiet time. She's the author of Tackled by Love and Hidden in Lies.
