Irreplaceable (Harmony #2) by Angela Graham

"Description"
It wasn’t his fault she lay broken and battered. He wasn’t responsible for the injuries covering her bruised body.
Her heart, however, told a different story. She endured the pain of its jagged edges as it shattered against her chest, ripping through the hope she once held. Her spirit was broken, and only one man was to blame for that.
Cassandra Clarke had known better than to trust her all to a man like Logan West. She’d thought he was different—a better man than he’d portrayed to others. A man worth risking it all for.
But she was wrong, and would never make that mistake again.
What happens when you question everything you longed to believe—deny all emotions you still hold for a man unworthy of them?

Faced with Logan’s persistence, Cassandra must find the strength to keep her guard up or risk falling again for the one man her body feels…is irreplaceable.

This book is intended for mature audiences.
"Quotes I liked"
"... but whatever it was, he hates himself for it. That has to be worth something."
---Irreplaceable, Angela Graham

"If I leave here right now with no word from you that we ever have a chance... then I'm done. I won't come back. I'll move on, like you asked."
---Irreplaceable, Angela Graham

"I'll never forgive myself for what I did to you."
 ---Irreplaceable, Angela Graham

"You were the best and worst game I ever played."
 ---Irreplaceable, Angela Graham

"You took a peace of me I can't get back -- I don't want back."
 ---Irreplaceable, Angela Graham

"I won't give up. Love's not supposed to be easy, and this is love, Cassandra. You'll never convince me otherwise. I know you're scared to believe me again, but I'm not that guy anymore. Not with you."
---Irreplaceable, Angela Graham
"Review"
So for the first time I am speechless. I liked this book and I didn't like this book. I don't know what to say about this one, I am a little confused. What was it again? Frankly, as much as I loved the book one and like Logan and Cassie's characters, I think the story should've concluded in two books. There was really no need for three books not that I didn't like it, which I totally did but not the way I had loved the first one. I was so so excited about it and then disappointed.
There is so much tension between Logan and Cassie and I kept thinking, "Cassie, come on get over yourself and forgive him already."
This book started right where the previous book had ended. Logan broke Cassie's heart and then she was in a serious accident an now Logan feels responsible. he keeps visiting her in the hospital, even paid her bills and she keeps showing him the cold shoulder as she still hasn't forgiven him. So far, so good. But then nothing... the whole book revolves around this, Logan trying to redeem himself, making effort to right the wrong and Cassandra being stubborn and scared to give them another chance.
In the end she finally forgives him and then came the crazy ex-fiance, now she is planning something which we will find out in the next book.
I like Angela Graham's writing style. She is good with the words (loved all the cheesy dialogues <3) and that is probably the only reason why I read the whole books otherwise I think just reading the beginning and ending would've sufficed. I know some readers do like to read more about characters they love and those readers must be really very happy right now, unfortunately I am not one of them. I hope the climax will be worth the wait for yet another few months.

Best Halloween Reads

It is Halloween today and I decided to share some books which are perfect for Halloween reading.

The Book of Lost Things by John Connolly

 Description
High in his attic bedroom, twelve-year-old David mourns the death of his mother, with only the books on his shelf for company. But those books have begun to whisper to him in the darkness. Angry and alone, he takes refuge in his imagination and soon finds that reality and fantasy have begun to meld. While his family falls apart around him, David is violently propelled into a world that is a strange reflection of his own -- populated by heroes and monsters and ruled by a faded king who keeps his secrets in a mysterious book, The Book of Lost Things.

The Book of Flying by Keith Miller

Description
In Keith Miller's debut novel, our hero is Pico, a poet and librarian who is and forbidden to pursue the girl of his dreams - for she has wings, and Pico does not. When he discovers an ancient letter in his library telling of the mythical Morning Town where the flightless may gain their wings, he sets off on a quest. It's a magical journey and coming-of-age story in which he meets a robber queen, a lonely minotaur, a cannibal, an immortal beauty, and a dream seller. Each has a story, and a lesson, for Pico-about learning to love, to persevere, and, of course, to fly. A gorgeously poetic tale of fantasy for adults, The Book of Flying is a beautiful modern fable and daring new take on the quest narrative.

It by Stephen King

Description
The story follows the exploits of seven children as they are terrorized by an eponymous being, which exploits the fears and phobias of its victims in order to disguise itself while hunting its prey. "It" primarily appears in the form of a clown in order to attract its preferred prey of young children. The novel is told through narratives alternating between two time periods, and is largely told in the third-person omniscient mode. It deals with themes which would eventually become King staples: the power of memory, childhood trauma, and the ugliness lurking behind a façade of traditional small-town values.

My Dream Cast

Seven Day Fiance (Love and Games #2) By Rachel Harris
I put together my dream cast for Seven Day Fiance. A little about all the main characters who made an appearance in this second book in Rachel Harris' Love and Games series.

Angelle Prejean: A young woman trying to live on her own, away from her hometown and doing a fine job of it too. She is both vulnerable and strong at the same time. Her family thinks that she needed to be taken care of but Cane knows that she can take care of herself just fine.

Cane Robicheaux: King of abs, the hot guy who runs family restaurant and mans the bar on weekends. He is not just a hot biker but a secret nerd who likes to read a lot and has interest in physics and maths.

Cane & Angelle: Ideal couple ;)

Sherry Robicheaux: Angelle's room mate/best friend/Cane's youngest sister. She is a wild girl who was behind the whole bachelor's auction/best abs contest. The only one who could get away with it not that Cane didn't think of killing her.

Colby and Jason: The first book "Taste the Heat" was about this couple. Colby is Cane's sister and Jason is his best friend.

Emma: Cane's goddaughter and Jason's daughter from his first marriage. She was the "cupid" who helped bringing Colby and Jason together and she likes Angelle too.

Troy and Eva: Troy is Angelle's brother and Eva is his wife. He is the one Cane had to win over with some difficulty because he was team-Brady.

Sadie: Angelle's goddaughter and Troys and Eva's daughter who also fell for Cane and helped smooth out things for him with her father. A cute and naughty child.

Lacey: Angelle's cousin/friend/confidante

Brady: The good doctor, Angelle's ex-boyfriend who proposed to her in public got rejected but still holding hope that she will return to him.
P.S.
Angelle Prejean has a huge family including other siblings and cousins but I only selected the ones who played somewhat prominent role in the book.

Seven Day Fiancé (Love and Games #2) by Rachel Harris

"Description"
Angelle Prejean is in a pickle. Her family is expecting her to come home with a fiancé—a fiance who doesn’t exist. Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. Tattooed, muscled, and hotter than sin, Cane can reduce Angelle to a hot mess with one look—and leave her heart a mess if she falls for him. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiance problem.

Cane Robicheaux is no one’s prince. He doesn’t do relationships and he doesn’t fall in love. When sweet, sultry-voiced Angelle propositions him, he hopes their little game can finally get her out of his head. He doesn’t expect her to break through all his barriers. But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.
"My Favourite Quotes"
"You broke through every wall I put. I can't push you away because you are already in. Not just in my heart, angel. You're in my soul."
---Seven Day Fiance, Rachel Harris
"As for Cane he'd broken her heart, but she couldn't deny he'd made the shards shake when she saw him."
---Seven Day Fiance, Rachel Harris

"You're the one I want to wake up to, the one I want to lay down at night. You're my little hellcat, in an angel's disguise."
---Seven Day Fiance, Rachel Harris
"Review"
I must say this book was nothing less than what I expected. I like romantic-heart-warming-cute stories and Seven Day Fiance was all that and more. Since the time I read Love and Games book 1, Taste the Heat, I've been waiting for this next book and I'm happy to say that it didn't disappoint me, in fact, it was even better than book 1. It was funny and sweet, exactly what I wanted to read.
Angelle had always done what was expected of her until the day she rejected her long-term boyfriend's very public proposal. She left her home and her town to move to Magnolia Springs. She was finally taking control of her life.
She became good friends with Sherry and Colby, who are Cane's sisters. Angelle had been attracted to Cane from the start but she knew that he was not the settling kind of guy and she was not interested in getting her heart broken. But when she saved him from one of his nasty-ex and then propositioned him to become her fake fiance for the week, all bets were off.
Cane wanted Angelle and this was his chance. He planned to charm her. It wasn't easy though, what with her overbearing family, an ex who was still hoping to gain her affections back and Cane's habit of never letting anyone in.
But all that didn't matter when he realised that she was already in and the only way they could be happy was to accept that fact and give their relationship the chance it deserved.
It was a great read. A fun story which made me laugh many times, especially the scene at the auction about best abs contest was hilarious. Cane&Angelle is now one of my most favourite fictitious couples. They compliment each other and their characters made this book all the more enjoyable. All the secondary characters were well written as well. I hope that we get to read Sherry's story soon enough. I don't know what Rachel has planned for her but while reading this book I couldn't help but imagine her with the good doctor ;)

Her Vampire Husband (Wicked Games #3) by Michele Hauf

"Description"
An arranged marriage between a werewolf and a vampire.

There will be blood.

She may resist his bite, but she can't resist his charms...

Werewolf princess Blu Masterson won't allow her seductive vampire husband to consummate their marriage with his bite, marking her forever. Alone in a secluded estate with her sworn enemy, Blu curses the marriage arranged to bring their rival nations together, especially since Creed Saint-Pierre calls out to her most feral desires.

When Blu uncovers her pack's secret plot to destroy the vampire nation—and Creed—she is forced to confront her growing feelings for her sexy undead husband. Will she choose the only life she's ever known or accept his vampire bite?

"Review"
If you are a fan of paranormal this is a book for you. I wasn't expecting too much from this one but I was pleasantly surprised that despite of cheesy title the book was actually pretty good.
Blu is a werewolf princess, female werewolves are rare and the fact that her father is willing to let her marry a vampire shows that werewolves seriously want peace between the two nations so vampires must compromise and hence Creed volunteers to marry her. As it turned out the marriage was a sham both sides were secretly planning against each other and it was all just for the show to distract the council.
Blu and Creed hate each other. Blu doesn't want to stay with her vampire husband forever but she also doesn't want to go back to the pack, where she was treated badly just because she was a woman among alpha males, at least her husband seemed to respect her and that was the first thing which caused her to change her opinion about vampires, they weren't all bad after all.
On the other hand Creed, although hated Blu but still thought she was hot, really hot that is, with her colourful wigs and outrageous wardrobe, he is instantly attracted to her. Creed is old, he had lived nine centuries and wasn't used to the young people, who seemed to have no manners at all but then Blu came and showed him how to have some fun by loosening up a little.
I loved both Blu and Creed. Both characters are well written and truly compliment each other. while reading one would think, "Yes! they belong together." may that was the reason I loved this book so much because otherwise the story was quite usual paranormal, where, werewolves and vampires hate each other, plot against and fight, there is some witchcraft thrown in there as well. In the end though both sides realise that compromise is the best option.

The Vampire With the Dragon Tattoo (Love at Stake #14) by Kerrelyn Sparks

"Description"
He's Out of Control

Dougal Kincaid has something to prove. After being injured in a battle with the Malcontents, he's ready for active duty protecting unsuspecting mortals from these villainous vampires who want to rule the world. But first he has to get control of himself . . . because just the sight of a certain lovely doctor has his injured hand doing some peculiar things, not to mention the sizzling sensation that burns along his dragon tattoo.

Vampires? Vampires?! As a scientist, Leah is having trouble believing that these immortal creatures exist. But there they are, standing in front of her, asking for help in solving a genetic puzzle that can save mankind. There's even one in a sexy kilt! Just one look into Dougal's gorgeous green eyes sets her pulse racing. But can she trust him—and the overwhelming desire that refuses to be ignored?
"Review"
“It had replayed in her mind, over and over, growing in importance till it seemed her whole life could be slotted into two categories. Life before the kiss, and life after the kiss. Her life before the kiss had moved step by step ever closer to the predestined event. Meeting Dougal. And kissing him.”
― Kerrelyn Sparks, The Vampire With the Dragon Tattoo

Love at Stake is one of my most favourite paranormal series and I have read and loved all the books. this one was no exception. A perfect mix of humour, romance, action and suspense.
Dougal has waited for three hundred years for his love to find him and now finally she is here but she is scared of him and think that he is a monster, a vampire, although at some level she does recognise him but can she get over the fact that he is "dead" half of the time.....
Leah is helping the vamps to fight evil and defeat the viscous vampires, including master Han. Dougal's mission is to protect her as well as defeat evil vamps and they must go to China, a place he never wanted to revisit, place where he lost his true love, Lei, three hundred years ago and where he might lose Leah as well. He vowed that he will not fail her and will protect her at any cost but can he fulfil it.....
When Leah was taken by the enemy he feels his entire world falling apart but in the end evil is defeated and they are reunited.
I love happy endings!! This book has the happiest one :)

Haunted (Fear Street #7) by R.L. Stine

"Description"
A ghost from the future is haunting Melissa and it's up to the two of them to prevent a young man's death from ever happening.
"Review"
This is a horror fiction. It is well written, full of suspense thriller. Melissa belongs to a well off family. They live on Fear Street. Her father wants her to have everything in life which he himself was denied as a teenager. He recently gifted her a brand new car. All this hasn't made her snobbish in fact she was down to earth and humble person. Then she starts seeing a ghost in her room. She is scared but no one believes her.
A ghost who claims that Melissa killed him and now he is back to haunt her but Melissa doesn't even know him, she has never met him before let alone kill him..... so may be she hasn't killed him yet, may be he is a ghost from the future, who isn't here to haunt her but stop her from killing him.
It was a fun to read book, with some twists and turns that will keep readers in suspense but it's not something that will actually scare anyone, I think, still an enjoyable story.
