Review + Dream Cast + Character Drop-in: Unabridged by Melinda De Ross

Unabridged

Synopsis

Ironically, it all starts with a popular book about BDSM. When Angelina Jameson steps into her boss's office armed with an acid article about 'Billionaires, BDSM and Blah-blah-blah', she thinks her career will take off. But her career aspirations drop into second place when she finds herself face to face with her nemesis.
Blade Spencer is the new editor-in-chief of Unabridged—the literary magazine where his ex-lover Angelina works. For three years, since she fled small town Jamestown without a word of explanation, they haven't heard from one another. Now, when they meet again, the past and all the feelings they once had between them come rushing back, making them realize their love has never died. But can they reconcile their new circumstances and the changes that have occurred during the three years they were apart? Neither is the person the other used to know.
Then there is the faceless shadow who hunts them from the dark, driven by obsession and greed...

3-Stars Review

This is a contemporary romance novel.  The two main characters are journalists. Angelina works in a magazine called Unabridged and writes a weekly column. She got a great story idea and goes to share with her boss. She is surprised to see Blade in her Boss' office. Apparently he is now her boss. They both used to date a long time ago but things didn't go as they envisioned. She had her mom to think about and Blade's rich background wasn't helping matters. After so many years it was strange to see him. Blade had never gotten over her and now both of them can have a second chance at love.

Along side this, there is a story about her article. Which turns out to be a huge success and she also got mail from some reader. I personally didn't find any of the letters funny. Maybe I'm just not into graphic humour. Anyhow the mention of these letters is the reason I gave this book a 3 stars. I found them pointless (i really didn't get the jokes :/ ). They didn't contribute to the plot. And in my (humble) opinion didn't really fit.Since the main focus was not Angie's professional life but her love life so I think it would've been better if the author stuck with that or other option was to extend the length of the novel to better fit both her lives side by side. In this case it sounded a little abrupt to me. Other than that the book was great. Plot is awesome and all the characters are also awesome plus well-written. I also like Belle and Angelina's mother and bit of mystery at the end was a nice touch.

Character Drop-in

Hello, ladies! I hope I’m not the only man around here, because that makes me a little uncomfortable. But don’t tell Angelina that! It would ruin my macho image in front of her. And look at me! She’s all I can talk about. I know you probably think I’m a pussy whipped idiot, but that’s not true. Actually, I’m man enough to admit I love her, but that doesn’t make me a romantic sod. She’ll never persuade me to watch chick flicks, or cry alongside her whenever she watches ‘The Notebook’—which she does at least once a month. I always ask why the hell she turns on the waterworks, but she says I couldn’t possibly understand. Thank God, I say! I’m not a misogynist or anything, but I can tell when she’s PMS-ing. She’s gotten even more emotional since she’s pregnant, but I’m enjoying every minute of it.
The only person I love most in the world besides Angelina is our baby. We don’t know what it is yet, because Angie wants it to be a surprise, though the suspense is driving me crazy! I think I’ve gone a little overboard with the presents this Christmas, but no expense is too big for my family. Right now, the little time I spent married to Allison feels like a bad dream, or something that happened to another me. I still feel the need to kill her when she gets out of prison, which I hope won’t happen in the next hundred years. Angelina thinks I’m kidding or that I got over it, but every time I think of that bitch, I literally see red!
Anyway, I don’t want to spoil my mood by dwelling on the past. I just want to live the present, and enjoy my wife and my baby. He or she already has a strong personality. Definitely a sports person! Speaking of which, I have to go sign a delivery for the bicycle I ordered for our little offspring. Now, I know you will think I’ve gone a little crazy, but only once a man lives through the experience of having his first baby. There are no rules here, and if they are, screw them! So what if I’ll make history as the craziest dad in the world? I’ll make it in style!
