What could possibly go wrong? "Review"  This book is not the usual vampire story which is I think a positive point but it isn't anything exceptional either. It is just a nice and interesting story which can…

"My Favourite Quotes From the Book"
“You know, Elise, sometimes our lives have moments of great disappointment. It's difficult at the time, but we have to move beyond.”
― Nicky Charles, The Mating

― Nicky Charles, The Mating
".... its always the quite ones you should watch out for." ― Nicky Charles, The Mating

Love Hate by Ruth Houston

"Description" OK, I admit it. I'm in love with him... my Mum's best friend's son! Bad right? Worse. He's come to stay at my house for an entire month! And it doesn't help that he's an arrogant ass or the fact that my stepsister wants him too... Save me? "Review" This was the most ridiculous book I've ever read in my entire life. Characters are so bad that instead of liking them I hated them. I had high hopes for this one although the description doesn't tell you much but still it sounded like a good book, unfortunately it turned out to be a total waste of time. After reading the whole thing I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry at the far-fetched totally unrealistic plot ever written. So I know that this was a fiction and fantasy where writers have every right to bend the realities but at least they "sound" realistic unlike this book. It was all bad though, it started out quite well. We see a girl, Amber, whose childhood…

Horror Fiction

Sometimes being scared can be fun. Horror Fiction has the capacity to frighten people or at least it is intended to do so. As for me, truthfully? I have never been scared by a book but still enjoy reading horror novels now and then. They can be very entertaining especially when certain amount of suspense and intrigue is involved but they are not meant for the faint of heart.
Just like any other genre it can be divided in many sub-genres like fantasy horror, supernatural or paranormal horror books, gothic horror and so on. There are also science fiction/horror books available but personally I don't like them much. I think that if you can explain everything via scientific postulations then what is the point of it being horror, therefore, supernatural horror is my preferred genre. I believe that it is more frightening and creates an atmosphere of fear if you cannot explain rationally the things happening around you. One of my all time favourite authors is R. L. Stine. His books neve…

Science Fiction

Science Fiction is not something I enjoy. These books are my least favourite and its very rare for me to read any science fiction. These are the books which are based on imaginative scientific technology, space travel etc. some might confuse it with fantasy but this genre differs from fantasy on the basis that here the possibilities of the existence of parallel universes, space travel or paranormal abilities etc are rationalized according to scientific rules either known to us or postulated by the author.
There are various sub-genres included within the heading of sci-fi. Time travel is one example, where with the help of "time machines" or some other scientifically explained method traveling back or forth in time is shown to be possible. Similarly, alternative historic books are also included in science fiction. Superhuman, military, science fiction and space opera are some other examples. These books can also be horror or mystery and so on.
Some popular authors of science …

Endless Night by Agatha Christie

"Description" Michael Rogers dreams of a rich, beautiful wife and a perfectly designed house. He finds the woman, and they build the house. Then sudden death strikes. "My Favourite Quotes From the Book" “One doesn't recognise in one's life the really important moments - not until it's too late.”

― Agatha Christie, Endless Night “Nobody shall drive us away,” I said. “We're going to be happy here.” We said it like a challenge to fate.”
― Agatha Christie, Endless Night “My whole belief in life was based on the fact that [she] loved me.”

A dashing couple from London, Mary Crawford and her brother Henry, enter this stable, rural world. They succeed in dazzling everyone at Mansfield Park, except for Fanny, who sees through their shallow veneer. Throughout the dramatic events that follow it is she who is able to bring back some stability to the ruptured lives of those around her. "My Favourite Quotes From the Book" “Life seems but a quick succession of busy nothings.”
― Jane Austen, Mansfield Park “We have all a better guide in ourselves, if we would attend to it, than any other person can be.”

I try to get out. I don’t. Have you ever been at the wrong place at the wrong time? Follow Joy as she discovers what it actually means. "My Favourite Quotes From the Book" "You know. They can fight or their body tells them to run... flight." ---Amy Rachiele, Silencing Joy "She gets emotional and sees me, she slaps me. She gets emotional and sees you, you get a hug." ---Amy Rachiele, Silencing Joy "You are my angel." ---Amy Rachiele,Silencing Joy "Review" Silencing Joy is a romantic/action/adventure thriller. Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn

"Description" Marriage can be a real killer.

On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears from their rented McMansion on the Mississippi River. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy's diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?

As the cops close in, every couple in town is soon wondering how well they know the one that they love. With his twin sister, Margo, at his side, Nick stan…

Thriller, Mystrey & Crime Fiction

Not my favourite genre to be sure but I do enjoy a little mystery and some thrill now and then.
Crime fiction is all about crimes, criminals and it fictionalises the motives behind these crimes and their outcomes. The sub-genres include detective fiction, spy fiction, court room drama, legal thrillers, psychological suspense etc. Detective fiction used to be my favourite at one time. I still remember reading Nancy Grew and Hardy Boys series with gusto.
Legal thrillers usually include situations where lawyers get involved in proving their cases and hence major characters are lawyers and their employs. There are a number of films as well which are based on legal thrillers. The suspense and the thrill of chasing the criminals can very well be addictive.
I have a love-hate relationship with psychological suspense. The mystery surrounding the characters always intrigue me and with these kinds of books each chapter is a surprise, you can never gauge the actions and reactions of the main cha…

Harry Potter Series by J. K. Rowling

The Harry Potter series include seven most amazing books you will ever read. There is not much one can say about the series at this point but I couldn't help review it for my blog.
This is the fantasy story which takes you to the world full of magic and wonder. It is so well written that the characters come to life and you can't help but go through with what they are going through. It is bedazzling, mesmerising and fascinating tale of witchcraft and wizardry. An entire world hidden from human eyes, for the time being you will believe it too.
Although it has been a few years since I read these books and my memory might be a little rusty but I'll try my best to convince you to read them if you haven't already ;)
The story began with a tragedy, a boy being orphaned and sent to live with his aunt and her family who basically don't want anything to do with "his kind" but are forced to take care of the child by Hogwarts headmaster, Dumbledore. There he is bull…

Historical Fiction

Historical fiction, as the name suggests, are stories set in the past. Mostly the books set in pre-World War II eras are included in this genre. There are books about ancient times, medieval era, Renaissance, English Civil war, French revolution, American history and so on. Although stories are fiction but the time in which they are set is based on facts. These kinds of books are not only entertaining but can be very informative about the historical facts. I am a personal fan of books written in early medieval era. It is interesting to know how people survived without all the gadgets of modern world available to them. I especially enjoy it when the book involves time travel. Sometimes I wonder how it would be to go back in history and experience it but then I realise that it might not be fun for us as we are used to comforts of life which were alien in those times ;)
My favourite historical romance authors are Julia Quinn, Eloisa James, Anna Campbell, Lynsay Sands and Medellin Hunter.…

"Description"While on a train heading west, Ted Jacob and Megan Crane are thrown back into the past with no idea of how or why they got there. They get off the train at Fargo, North Dakota and learn they are in April 1898.

The only way out of this mess is to return to the future. But between figuring that out and Megan's showdown with the men, they may discover that some things are meant to be. And love may be one of them. "Review" It was yet another extremely enjoyable book. Ted and Megan travelled back in time to 1898 purely my accident. They had no idea where they were but they knew that it was best to stick together. Forced to marry, they somehow managed to tolerate each other and kept trying to find a way to go back to their own time. As f…

Contemporary Romance

The Contemporary Romance includes books which are set in post World War II era. these are my favourite kind of romance novels usually focused on social aspects of life in the time they are written. It is a broad genre and have many sub genres like medical romance, romantic suspense, humorous and so on. The ones I like always have a happy ending because like Jane Austen, I too, do not believe in tragedies. I think love should end happily at least in fiction if not in reality. Most times when I am reading romance I can get a pretty good idea how it will end but that doesn't in any away influence my liking of these books. There are a large number of books available under this genre. I think these are the most read romance books and many good authors are writing amazing contemporary romances (fortunately for the readers like me :)).
My personal favourite authors are Julie James, Lisa Kleypas, Susan Elizabeth Phillips, Susan Mallery, Kristen Ashley, Bella Andre, Jennifer …

"Description"What if the characters in a vampire novel left their world--and came into yours?

Amy is in love with someone who doesn't exist: Alexander Banks, the dashing hero in a popular series of vampire novels. Then one night, Amy meets a boy who bears an eerie resemblance to Alexander. Paranormal Fiction

These days paranormal and fantasy fiction is all the rage and I am no different than other readers in liking these books. These books are far far away from the reality, beyond your wildest, sometimes darkest imagination, where anything can happen. Who wouldn't like that? You can meet vampires, wizards, zombies, ogres, fairies and what not. You pick up a book and it is a whole new world waiting for you to explore it and get lost in it. There are many writer writing paranormal series but there are some good stand alone books as well. Some of my favourite series include, Wicked lovely series by Melissa Marr, Gemma Doyle trilogy by Libba Bray, The Immortals by Alison Noel, Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer and House of Night series by P.C. Cast, Kristin Cast. I have also loved The Vampire Diaries series by L.J. Smith but the last two books of the series were so bad that it kind of spoiled the whole thing for me. Some stand alone novels that I have enjoyed reading are …

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen

"Description""It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."

So begins Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen's witty comedy of manners--one of the most popular novels of all time--that features splendidly civilised sparring between the proud Mr. Darcy and the prejudiced Elizabeth Bennet as they play out their spirited courtship in a series of eighteenth-century drawing-room intrigues. Renowned literary critic and historian George Saintsbury in 1894 declared it the "most perfect, the most characteristic, the most eminently quintessential of its author's works," and Eudora Welty in the twentieth century described it as "irresistible and as nearly flawless as any fiction could be." "My Favourite Quotes from the Book"
